This is my sixth year at MIST Toronto and first year as an Associate Director, looking forward to this year! (inshallah).
Senior Associate Director
I joined MIST by accident but it literally has changed my life. Because of it, I've discovered talents I never knew I had, traveled across North America and met some of the most inspiring young Muslims.
Junior Associate Director
I am so glad to be part of MIST Toronto. The work that we do and the experience that we are able to provide to young people year after year amazes me and keeps me coming back.
Graphic Design Manager
This will be my fourth year participating in MIST, I started off as a volunteer. This year, I am Graphic Design Manager for MIST and am super excited to design this year's theme into visual graphics (www.samahat.com).
To be or not to be, that is the question. To MIST or not to MIST, that can never be a question"
I think there's a cognitive image of what it means to be Canadian, one that often leaves out young Muslims. MIST is a unique space that willingly embraces Canadian-Muslim identity by celebrating the accomplishments of Muslim youth in the arts, sciences, community, and sports!
Sports Day Manager
Acting as a Sports Manager this year, I look forward to seeing the excitement and extraordinary spirit at Sports Day, and having that energy carry on throughout the rest of the tournament.
MIST helps individuals grow to their full potential, and it helps those individuals form a community of people working to better the world around them.
Sports Day Manager
I love sports and competition. Excited to be working as a manager for the first time!
Human Resources Manager
Good Samaritan, washed-up athlete, especially gifted napper. How I got involved with mist: I thought I was going on a field trip to Niagara Falls
Special Events Manager
MIST really has become an important part of who I am. This competition helped me improve myself both competitively and socially, which is why I feel it is important to help those who come after me go through an experience similar to this and find something new about themselves.
MIST pushes students to their best it allows them to see their potential. It is solely run by young youth in the community; it is wonderful to see how young youth are given the opportunity to prove themselves and show how amazing and powerful they are.
"What truly belongs to you is that which you would not lose in a shipwreck.” MIST is special because it has allowed me to internalize qualities, skills, and characteristics that I would not lose in a shipwreck. In other words, MIST and the plethora of lessons it entails truly belong in my heart!
I love MIST because it brings together a group of incredibly talented executives and competitors to create a platform that serves to inspire North American communities year after year.
I joined MIST this year when i realized the void that it filled in our community. It is a unique experience for students because it allows them to compete in academic and athletic events in a muslim enviroment. I feel like I am a developing an event that is the highlight of our Muslim Youth's experience.
I've developed a great sense of appreciation for the opportunity to explore, expand, and share my skills and abilities through my current role as the HR Manager.
As a Research In Action Judge last year, I witnessed MIST offer a constructive and promising environment that encouraged young minds to aspire and challenge themselves. I couldn’t be happier to contribute to a cause that will undoubtedly benefit young people.
MIST has given me an opportunity to assist in the professional development of the hundreds of students that pass through our doors each year. Our hope is to support these students as they travel the path to building self confidence, identify and strength.
I joined MIST on a whim, but stayed for the amazing people I met. It's like an extended family you never asked for, but are immensely grateful to have regardless.
